Ideal IVF Candidates
Is IVF the best choice for you? We’ll help you decide.
Managing more than 10,000 IVF cycles has given us lots of firsthand experience and understanding of when it’s likely to work and the different emotional considerations to chat with you about first. There are several situations where IVF can be a good treatment option.
- Tubal issues – Blocked or damaged fallopian tubes make it difficult to fertilize an egg or for an embryo to travel to the uterus.
- Ovarian issues – Conditions that affect ovulation, like Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS).
- Uterus issues – An abnormal uterus shape or fibroid tumors makes it difficult for an embryo to implant and result in pregnancy.
- Endometriosis – Severe endometriosis affects the fertilization of an egg and implantation of the embryo in the uterus.
- Unexplained infertility – When there’s no known cause behind infertility, IVF can raise your chances of pregnancy.
- Male infertility factors – A low sperm count or issues with sperm function or motility can prevent sperm from fertilizing an egg on its own. When severe, intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI) can be used with IVF to increase your possibility of success. With ICSI, a single sperm is drawn into a needle and injected directly into the center of the egg.
