March Babies of the Month: Meet Savannah and Elizabeth
My husband, J.R. and I have been together over 14 years. We started out as a couple with no interests in marriage or a family, just career minded and young. The longer we were together, we realized that we of course wanted to get married and eventually start a family. God worked in many ways in us.
I was diagnosed with PCOS in my late twenties, and had been on birth control for the better part of a decade when we decided to try for a baby. After a very short introduction to Clomid following a year of trying to get pregnant naturally, our son Jack joined our little family in 2013. Though Jack kept us very busy with baseball games, millions of bubbles, and hot wheels our little family didn’t feel complete. Knowing I was inching close to the dreaded “over 35” category I started Clomid with my OB and after 6 months it seemed as though Jack would not get a sibling. I was referred to Dr Brown, who upon consultation looked at all my “scary diagnosis” and said, “you want to have another baby, you will have another baby.” He was very respectful, took his time, explained all our options and initiated a plan. His staff, other physicians, and practitioners are amazing. Never an impatient remark, they take their time, and you truly feel like you’re their only patient.
I decided to under go all the testing and the first cycle of medication at the same time. Nervous that the process required me in the office so frequently at first, and of course as we get prepared to finalize the first cycle, Hurricane Irma made her landfall causing my husband to be on a hurricane ride out team (away from the family) and one of my medications (that was temperature controlled) to be held up in Miami.
Despite the few bumps, I got that beautiful “pregnant” reading a few weeks later. But with it was very unwelcome nausea and morning sickness. A very different experience than with my first. I should have known then…I joked “…it’s gotta be a girl, there is already too much estrogen in this body!” Upon seeing the ultra sound, we found out we would not be welcoming 1 new sibling, but 2. Twin girls.
Savannah Katherine (Savvy) Logan and Elizabeth Grace (Gracie) Logan came naturally and amazingly into the world 5/11/2018. They were 36 weeks 5 days, and weighed 6;1, and 6;12 respectively. They are our wonderful miracles, and though days may be hard now and again…this simple couple that wanted never to get married and to have no children have embraced being not only the parents of a very active 6 year old, but the staff at Brown’s made it possible for us to welcome 2 beautiful girls as well.
Thank you so much for all you do; and how you made this process quite easy and peaceful for me and my little (BIG) family.
God Bless, Kat Logan
